Latest Match Report:

9 Anglers fished an Andover open on a very weedy Little Bedwyn on the Kennet and Avon canal on Sunday 31st August. Winner on the day was Barry Giles with 6lb 6oz, which included a 3lb 3oz bonus Tench. Second was Keith Theobald with 4lb 12oz and third was Stu Dabbs with 3lb 6oz, losing yet another nugget to Barry Giles.
14 Anglers fished the third H.C.C. 3 at Peril Lake in Andover. Clear & weedy conditions with fishing in the clear channel was always going to be difficult. 1st on the day was Ian Ross wth 22lb 2oz consisting of an 11lb 6oz carp and skimmers, caught using worm & caster over groundbait. 2nd was Stu Dabbs with 17lb of skimmers & roach, 3rd was Keith Theobald with a 16lb 3oz net of roach & perch. A big thank you to Eddie down at the Peril for doing a lot of hard work over the past week to make it fishable.
16 Anglers contested the second of the pairs cup at Todber Manor's Park Lake. Windy conditions made it difficult to fish the long pole on some swims, and end pegs took the first two places. 1st on the day was Barry Giles with 135lb 6oz fishing paste on the "Pineapple" peg 38. 2nd was Mayo with 128lb on the "oak tree" peg 13 & 3rd was Andy Berntsen on peg 32 with 104lb. Sections were won by Keith Theobald with 100lb 14oz. & Maurice Giles with 73lb 8oz. After the two hotly contested pairs cup matches, Barry Giles & James Hillier took the pairs cup by a point.
12 Anglers fished the third M.C.C at Whitehouse Lake near Awbridge. Big fish were the order of the day with not many tench showing. 1st on the day was Ian Ross with the biggest match weight of the season so far with 146lb 13oz of carp, using feeder to the island and paste next to the marginal bushes. 2nd was Barry Giles with 88lb taking another £1 off Stu Dabbs, who was third with 74lb.

News

Latest from Foxcotte (23/07/08)

Tuesday evening work parties have begun again with up to 20 members and committee attending. With the addition of a new weed pusher attached to the front of the boat, Chairman Charlie Topping steered the boat through the weed, pushing the floating weed to the bank side where teams were waiting with rakes and nets to remove it from the metal forks. A big thank-you to Head Bailiff Maurice Giles for making the new weed pushing attachment for the boat. On the bungalow bank side the rake teams of Gerry Blunt and Dean Vickery, Terry Whenman and Roy Rolfe, Bill and Tony Underhill cleared the forks of the boat and marginal weed each time the boat did a sweep into their peg. On the front of the boat, Mike steered Charlie through the weed patches indicating when the weed pusher was full. The rest of the helpers cleared marginal weed from every swim - the clean up will continue next Tuesday, clearing top bungalow bank. See photos in the gallery.
