AGM Report 2008

Charlie Topping began the meeting with the Chairmans report,
the last 3 years has been the worst in the clubs history for problems
- mostly put down to acts of god and now we just have to get on with it.
The industrious looking island refuges are doing their job with over 60% more Zooplankton in the refuges than in the main lake. Foxcotte lake was a unique situation and in effect a trial for ourselves and the EA. The Zooplankton refuges and straw sausage rolls that are again to be fiited around the islands are working to stop Algea. We will also be planting some lillies and other water plants to help with oxygen and soften the look of the lake and islands. The EA allowed some stocking in 2007 but feel that the problems of Foxcotte past could in some way have been due to overstocking, and so are allowing a little new stock at a time. We intend to ask for another movement order for October/November. With water levels high and planned work parties to tackle the weed situation, the forthcoming year looks good. Mike Berntsen gave the Treasurers report for the year; subscriptions were up due to the rise in the night ticket price, membership was about the same. £10,000 has been allocated for fish re-stocking but only spent around £4,000 as yet. The club now has to pay deposits for booking some venues which gets reimbursed later in the year. The club contributed £200 towards the cost of the island refuges and the EA covered the rest. Dave Tucker gave his final Match secretary's report: The national result was a good one for the club fishing one man down, he felt the match group was going from strength to strength but needed more anglers for winter league and national. Dave thanked the club for his enjoyable years as match secretary, he then presented the Trophies for the 2007/08 season. Tracy Berntsen then presented Dave with cards and gifts from the committee and match group as a thank-you for all his hard work. The re-election of officers took place with only 2 changes Ian Ross as incoming match secretary and Paul Kenway joined the committee. No rule changes were passed. There was a question and answer session between the members and committe, some of these can be found on the general forum. Charlie Topping closed the meeting thanking everyone that attended. |
